Patient and Public Involvement

SMHRN Strategy

SMHRN is committed to improving patient and public involvement (PPI) in mental health research. PPI involvement can lead to research studies that are more relevant, better designed, more likely to recruit and complete, and whose results are more useful and better disseminated.

The Scottish Topic Specific Research Networks have to ensure that patients, those who care for them and the public are actively involved in all aspects of the research process, including shaping the direction of Research Network development. If you would like further information regarding the strategy developed for all topic specific research networks please see,'Patient and Public Involvement Strategy For Scottish Topic Specific Research Networks'.

The Scottish Mental Health Research Network has set out a number of ways in which they intend to improve patient and public involvement in mental health research in Scotland. For further information please see, 'Strategy to Achieve Better Patient and Public Involvement in the Scottish Mental Health Research Network'.
